    The onset of menopause is not a comforting thought for most women. Generally, menopause will occur between the ages of 42-58 and can last between 2-10 years.

    While the thought of reaching menopause is not comforting to most women, spare a thought for those who have gone through early menopause, sometimes affecting women in their 20′s.

    Menopause marks the end of the fertility era for women and how they deal with it’s onset can be an individual thing. Bringing with it upheaval, both mentally and physically, menopause is a dreaded phase of life for most.

    A good friend of mine, Sally, recently went through two years of menopause symptoms and when I asked her how she coped she simply replied…” You deal with it the best way you can. Sometimes support just doesn’t cut it and I found when I went through one of a number of symptoms the best way I coped was to just cry it out. That’s how I dealt with it.”

    Pre Menopause Symptoms

    There are a number of symptoms associated with early menopause such as wild and unexplainable mood swings, hot flushes, heavy bleeding and night sweats and irregular bleeding. Hormone Replacement Therapy ( HRT ) is what most women will receive depending on each individual. Herbal remedy for menopause is highly recommended especially for women who don’t go down the HRT path. Used in conjunction with HRT, herbal remedy for menopause is a helpful way of combatting the menopause symptoms.

    It’s been suggested that a lot of women aren’t prepared for menopause for one reason or another; maybe because they don’t want to recognise the fact that the aging process is what it is.     Or, you need to know the benefits of using HRT in conjunction with natural treatment. Learning about menopause treatment well before you should even worry about menopause becoming part of your life can answer these questions. HRT is still the most effective treatment when you’re needing a speedy relief option to menopause symptoms.

    Natural treatments take a lot longer to feel the benefits from so a treatment program initially which involves both methods is an excellent option.

    Other Menopause Relief Options

    Looking at a combination of relief methods to treat menopause means knowing the importance of diet and exercise in combating things such as menopause weight gain.

    Diet is extremely important. Understanding the diet you should follow before, during and after its occurrence will impact how you handle the symptoms associated with it. Usually, a low fat intake and a high calcium diet are recommended. If you do all these, you will minimize the often times stressful symptoms which signify menopause.

    It is also of great importance to learn about menopause and its medical facts. You have to be armed with much knowledge about menopause to help you solve the problems that go alongside with it.

    No, we’re not suggesting you need to do a course on the subject and become a renowned expert but just learn enough to get by.

    If you have prepared yourself enough, then it would be easy to deal with your menopausal problems. As much as possible be prepared for it mentally and physically. You’ll see the importance of preparation once you get to meet that change in your life.

    Menopause medication comes in several different forms. Is there a menopause medication that will stop this natural progression in a woman’s life in it’s tracks? Well, no, but there are treatments available, both natural and synthetic which can ease a woman through this period and provide relief when it’s needed.

    The menopause process can last for several years from the pre-menopausal stage to post menopause and while there have been some “horror” stories related over the years, medical treatments and techniques have been ever improving and in this article, we will look at some of the treatments available to women.

    Hormone Replace Therapy

    The most common of all the treatments is the HRT. It is common because it covers the basics of menopause, like the replacement of hormone that is getting depleted by the ovaries shut down process. This method though extremely effective, has been found to be connected to cancer and blood clotting, and hence long-term usage is highly contra indicated.

    Estrogen Replacement Therapy

    Estrogen replacement therapy is a milder menopause medication than the HRT, but more or less on the same lines. It replaces the loss of estrogen in the blood stream thus giving relief to a host of symptoms such as hot flushes, and night sweats. The same dangers that come from HRT lurks in ERT as well, so should not be used for too long a period of time.

    Surface Treatments

    It was observed that there is a lot of relief without half the risks involved when the hormones are applied locally, for example using vaginal cream for itchiness and dryness. These are mostly progesterone creams. These too have been associated with cancer and dangerous blood clots.

    Non Hormone Treatment Methods

    There is menopause medication which does not contain hormones. These are usually relaxants, anti-depressants which are SSRIs or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors are used to treat hot flushes in particular.

    More Hormone Treatment Methods

    There are a number of menopause medication which has hormones such as oral contraceptives, progestin tablets and low does estrogen patches or vaginal creams which are highly beneficial (though with risks in the long terms usage).

    While the above menopause medication treatments all play their part in their own right, combining some of them at various stages of the menopausal process could be necessary. Discussing the best treatment options for you with your doctor is the best course of action.

    There are always alternatives available in the shape of more natural treatments. Herbal medications are becoming more and more popular however, it would still be a little foolhardy to self-suscribe natural menopause medication for yourself without proper advice from a health professional.
