Menopause Treatment - How To Regain Control From Menopause

J D Dean

When menopause arrives in a woman's life the impact on her life can be one of turmoil. Dealing with irregular periods, hot flashes and night sweats with accompanying bouts of depression is not what she bargained for. So is there a menopause treatment to combat these effects?

Well, if a woman is totally unprepared for menopause and hasn't taken the time to at least pursue information on it's effects and treatment methods, then treatment methods will basically become one big blur.

Preparation is one of the keys to handling menopause to any great extent. In fact, in itself it's almost a form of menopause treatment.

Handling irregular periods varies from woman to woman. One of the best methods for handling irregular periods could be with oral contraceptives which help not only in regularizing the menstrual circle, but also reduce the intensity of the hot flushes and even mood swings.

The Hot Flash

The hot flash must surely be one of the symptoms which most women don't look forward to. Depending on whether the woman has menstrual bleeding or not, there is adequate menopause treatment for this affliction.

For those who are having their periods, oral contraceptives have proved to be very beneficial; while for those who have stopped having their periods, there are oral and trans-dermal ways to administer estrogen. There also combination therapies that has both estrogen and progesterone which can alleviate up to 90 percent of the symptoms.

Mood Swings And Depression

Mood swings not only affect the person having them but also those around them. Relationships can often be strained and combined with bouts of depression, the results can be damaged personal relationships. Mood swings can be very scary but first of all it needs to be understood as a symptom of pre-menopause; then only the right menopause treatment can be given.

Natural menopause treatment is becoming more of an option for women who don't like the idea of hormonal replacement treatment. If you are going down the natural path just be aware that relief from these treatments takes a heck of a lot longer and you may want to consider a combination of natural and HRT.
